How does Botox and Dysport work?
Botox Cosmetic and Dysport are prescription medicine that is injected into the muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines. It work by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes the persistent lines to form between the brows. It blocks temporarily blocks the nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes persistent lines from forming between the brows.
Will Botox and Dysport change your facial appearance?
The results will reduced lines and wrinkles to soften your features, however, it will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you've had "work done".
How quickly will I see a difference?
Botox results will be noticeable in one (1) to seven (7) days after your treatment. The injected area may continue to improve for up to a month.
How long may my Botox and Dysport last?
Results vary from person to person. Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months.
Are Botox and Dysport injections painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. As a board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Alfred Sofer uses highly specialized techniques to ensure patients are comfortable during their treatments. Botox and Dysport treatment of the frown lines requires 1 injection into 5 areas between and over the eyebrows. A topical anesthetic will be applied to the area for 10 minutes prior to injections. The treatment itself takes only 10 minutes.
